Sophia=Wisdom in Greek (Hokmah in Hebrew, sapientia in Latin)
“...the Biblical depiction of Wisdom is itself consistently female, casting her as sister, mother, female beloved, chef and hostess, preacher, judge, liberator, establisher of justice and a myriad of other female roles wherein she symbolizes transcendent power ordering and delighting in the world. She pervades the world, both nature and human beings, interacting with them all to lure them along the right path to life.”
Elizabeth A. Johnson. She Who is, Crossroad, New York, 1992, p. 87
In the circle, we are all equal. There is no one in front of you and there's nobody behind you. No one is above you; no one is below you. The Circle is sacred because it is designed to create unity.

On August 28, 2023, Rhondda MacKay called together a group of women to explore and sharing Women/Church inclusive liturgies. Little did Rhondda know what her invitation would mean to the women who received it! A light in a world of darkness shines when we gather, and this light has been growing stronger since that inaugural meeting held on the 15th of September 2023.
It is as we mature as a group that we have come to need a place to share information and resources related to our monthly worship together. This is also a place for members to refer others, so our community can grow and be made available to other women seeking a faith community in Ottawa, Ontario.
We gather monthly on the sacred, unceded land of the Indigenous Algonquin People. As we gather we give thanks for the lands and teachings that we will share through time and space. We are honoured to be hosted by Trinity United Church on Maitland Ave.
