In Sophia Circle, we honour the rich meaning behind the name Sophia, wisdom in Greek, and the feminine characterization of the deity in the Hebrew scriptures. For many, Sophia embodies the Holy Spirit or a feminine aspect of the Creator. Matthews's gospel depicts Jesus as Sophia's child, communicating her goodness as a mother bird lamenting over Jerusalem (23:37-39) and uttering Sophia's call "Come to me" promising the weary life-giving blessing of rest. 

 

Together, we explore what faith means to each of us, cultivating a space where personal beliefs thrive and flourish.
