Seeing and Being Light

Find a candle large enough to be lit each day, starting on the Winter Solstice, (December 21) until we meet again on January 10th. 

When you rise each day, (or when the best time is for you), light your candle and sit for a few moments in silence. Here is a prayer you might like to use:

Light within all light

Soul behind all souls

at the breaking of dawn

at the coming of day

we wait and watch.

Your Light within the morning light

Your Soul within the human soul

Your Presence beckoning to us from the heart of life.

In the dawning of this day

let us know fresh shinings in our soul.

In the growing colours of new beginnings all around us

let us know the first lights of our heart.

Great Star of the morning

Inner Flame of the universe

let us be a colour in this new dawning.

Blessing For Solitude

May you recognize in your life the presence, power, and light of your soul.

May you realize that you are never alone, that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you intimately with he rhythm of the universe.

May you have respect for your individuality and difference.

May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here, that behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful and eternal happening.

May you learn to see your self with the same delight, pride, and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.

Amen. Let it be so.

During the worship, five groups were formed and each group wrote a prayer about light.

Where do you see light? Where is your light yearning to shine?

Where would you like to invite more light to shine in the world?

Where the light shines, let there be kindness and love.

Where the world is dark or in pain, let there be light 

By our shining example, may we illuminate the. World.

May we continue to see the light

the light to the darkest corners

From within and everywhere; light is like a revelation.

We see light in people. What is light in me attracts what is light in others.

Light follows the darkness, in which we refresh and recharge.

We pray the light will guide our leaders to be still and know the will of the people, who are visitors here on mother earth.

We invite light to bring joy, love and peace into focus.

I see the light in the laughter of children.

I see the light in the messages of kindness.

I see the light in each one of us

As we are created of light

I am yearning of my light to shine in my art.

Let the light shine in the hearts of politicians

To celebrate life in all of its’ colourful glory.

Let Divine Light shine through us.  Help us to be open to the opportunities to be the Light in our own small messy worlds.
